Job summary

Vertin is seeking a Licensed Funeral Director to join our Pennsylvania team, splitting time between our Dugan and Hoffman Funeral Homes. You will lead funeral services, guide families through arrangements, and ensure dignified handling of the deceased.

You’ll stay compliant with laws, mentor junior staff, and help strengthen community ties while maintaining compassion and integrity in every interaction.

Qualifications

• Licensed funeral director in Pennsylvania or willing to obtain licensure.
• Degree in mortuary science from an accredited program.
• 1–2 years of experience in a funeral home.
• Strong interpersonal skills for grieving families.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and various communication platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead funeral services that reflect each family’s wishes and honor the life lived.
• Guide families through the arrangement process with compassion and clarity.
• Prepare the deceased for viewing, including embalming and cosmetic work.
• Stay current and compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Do

• Lead funeral services that truly reflect each family’s wishes and honor the life lived
• Guide families through the arrangement process with compassion, patience, and clarity
• Prepare the deceased for viewing, including embalming and cosmetic work
• Stay current and compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Strengthen community ties through meaningful outreach and relationship building
• Invest in the next generation by mentoring junior associates and funeral interns
• Active funeral director licensure in Pennsylvania, or a willingness to obtain it.
• Degree in mortuary science from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a funeral home setting.
• Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate effectively with grieving families.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with various communication platforms.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
