Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a licensed engineer to conduct planning, design, research and analysis for infrastructure and fire protection systems. The Engineer I provides project management and engineering expertise for design, construction, and completion of diverse City projects.

Essential functions include managing design and construction contracts, coordinating multi‑phase processes, reviewing plans and invoices, and collaborating with consultants, inspectors and city departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
  • Texas PE license required within six months of appointment.
  • Fire Protection Division requires FP-PE license for that scope.

Responsibilities

  • Provides project management over design and construction contracts for infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinates all phases of engineering design and construction; manages budgets and funding.
  • Develops and reviews engineering plans to ensure code compliance.
  • Reviews invoices, submittals, and contractor payments.
  • Prepares agenda packages and change orders for contracts.
  • Collaborates with consultants, inspectors, and other agencies; conducts site visits as needed.
