Job summary

Quanex, located in Owatonna, Minnesota, is seeking a Licensed Electrician for a weekend shift (Friday–Sunday, 6am–6pm). This role covers electrical installations, maintenance and repair of plant equipment, plus hydraulic, pneumatic and plumbing systems.

Ideal candidates hold Minnesota Class A Master and/or Journeyman licenses and have at least four years of hands-on experience. You will diagnose problems, install circuits, services, and ensure safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Minnesota Class A Master and/or Journeyman licenses required
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience preferred
• Strong analytical ability and troubleshooting skills, read blueprints/schematics

Responsibilities

• Install or repair electrical systems for equipment in plant and office areas
• Calculate load requirements and install new circuits
• Install machinery, fixtures and required electrical/plumbing hook-ups
• Diagnose problems and repair equipment promptly to minimize downtime
• Maintain Electrical Inspection Log and document installations for state inspection
• Provide preventive/predictive maintenance and mentor unlicensed staff

Quanex is looking for a Licensed Electrician - Weekend Shift to join our team located in Owatonna, Minnesota.

This all-new shift's hours are Friday – Sunday from 6am - 6pm.

This position is responsible for all electrical installations, maintenance and repair of company equipment; perform or assist in the installation, maintenance, hydraulic, pneumatic and plumbing systems.

What Success Looks Like:

• Perform a variety of electrical functions for installing or repairing equipment and machines in both plant and office areas.
• Calculate load requirements of all new equipment and install new circuits.
• Install new machinery, fixtures and necessary electric, plumbing and related hook-ups for the equipment to become fully operational.
• Diagnose problems and repair machinery and equipment as promptly as possible to minimize down time; includes all electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic machine operations.
• Determine repair parts and supplies needed and requisition them through Maintenance Supervisor or Lead.
• Record all electrical installations requiring state inspection in the Electrical Inspection Log.
• Assist in developing and perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment and machines in plant and office.
• Train and mentor unlicensed electricians and operators.
• Use a variety of skilled trade technologies to repair and/or rebuild equipment.
• Must be knowledgeable of the safety requirements in the handling of chemicals and/or hazardous waste.
• Follow all safety procedures, rules and guidelines; and notify supervisor/team lead of any existing or potential safety issues.
• Responsible for attending work on time and for scheduled hours each day.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
• Assist in training department personnel with operations and procedures.
• May make minor adjustments to machines to keep them in working order.

What You Bring:

• High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid Minnesota Class A Master, Class A Journeyman and/or Maintenance Electricians license is required.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience is preferred.
• Strong analytical ability, including the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and perform complex repairs.
• Strong electrical and mechanical skills, hydraulic and pneumatic skills, ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.

The targeted salary range for this position is $38.39 -$42.00/hour.
