Job summary

John W. Stone Oil Distributor, LLC seeks a Licensed Dockman, Bunkers to operate at the Gretna dockside facility.

You will serve as PIC, manage liquid cargo transfers from docks, vessels, trucks, and tanks, and ensure safe, compliant operations on site. Responsibilities include inspecting barges, connecting hoses, monitoring cargo flow, handling lines and rigging, and completing paperwork while adhering to US Coast Guard and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• At Least 18 Years of Age.
• Reliable Transportation to and from Work.
• High School Diploma (or its equivalent).
• Valid TWIC credential.
• Basic Computer Skills.
• Valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Tankerman PIC of Dangerous Liquids endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Serve as PIC.
• Perform liquid cargo transfer operations from docks, vessels, trucks, tote tanks, and shore tanks in a safe and efficient manner.
• Inspect the barge prior to transfer operations.
• Connect and disconnect hoses.
• Align and secure valves.
• Check engines and pumps prior to transfer operations.
• Monitor cargo flow and mooring lines throughout the transfer operations.
• Conduct soundings on liquid cargo tanks using gauge tape or gauge stick.
• Complete and submit paperwork, including the DOI.
• Maintain cleanliness of the facility.
• Operate a forklift.
• Work without supervision.
• Maintain equipment in good working order and condition.
• Offload trash and used filters.
• Spot barges at docks.
• Operate winches and ratchets.
• Line-handling and rigging.
• Communicate via a VHF radio.
• Develop knowledge of heaters.
• Troubleshoot problems.
• Adhere to safety/regulatory policies.

Company Description : John W. Stone Oil Distributor, LLC is the local leader in dockside, mid-streaming, and offshore fueling along the Mississippi River and throughout the various locations on the Intracoastal Waterway system as well as into the Gulf of Mexico.

Position: Licensed Dockman, Bunkers

Reports To : Operations Manager, Bunkers

Worksite : Dockside Facility in Gretna, LA

Work Schedule: 12 hr. shifts (4days on, 2 off, 4 nights on, 2 off)

Headquarters : Located in Gretna, Louisiana.
