Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license in resident state.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and confirm orders and report discrepancies immediately.
  • Inspect the barge and perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) before transfers.
  • Maintain machinery and monitor cargo flow during operations.
  • Prepare barge for sail and complete required paperwork.
  • Inspect barge to ensure mechanical soundness and CFR compliance.
  • Perform JSA and verify barge documents onboard before transfer.
  • Complete and sign DOI; follow CFR requirements for Tankering Operations.
  • Maintain machinery including barge pumps and lines.
  • Connect cargo arm or hose and align valves for transfer.
  • Report irregularities to vessel and/or facility before transfer.
  • Stop transfer and call dispatch if irregularities occur.
  • Check engine/pump readiness for discharge operations.
  • Monitor cargo flow and mooring lines during transfer.
  • After dispatch approval, disconnect and complete transfer paperwork.
  • Secure valves and prepare barge for sailing; notify dispatch before leaving.
  • Be available for on-call rotations including nights, weekends, holidays.
  • Be ready to deploy within two hours to dispatch locations.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings and participate in improvement activities.

Description

Reports to: Field Supervisor and/or Operations Manager

Department: Marine Operations

Status: Non-Exempt

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receive and confirm orders from dispatch, facility, boat captain and report any discrepancies to Gulfstar Dispatch Department immediately.
  • Travel to and from assigned facility, as directed by Gulfstar Dispatch Department.
  • Carry all equipment from vehicle to facility to ensure that all equipment necessary to complete the transfer will be close at hand.
  • Wear all protective clothing and equipment, including respirator and fresh air equipment that may be required to transfer product.
  • Inspect the barge prior to the cargo transfer operation, to ensure the vessel is mechanically sound and in accordance to US Coast Guard requirements.
  • Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and verify all barge documents are onboard prior to conducting cargo transfer operations.
  • Complete and sign the Declaration of Inspection (DOI) and follow all CFR requirements, as they relate to Tankering Operations.
  • Maintain machinery, including barge pump engines, pump valve packings, winch wires, and soft lines when necessary.
  • Connect cargo arm or hose and align the barge’s valves to send and receive cargo.
  • Report irregularities of the vessel, and/or facility prior to beginning the transfer.
  • Immediately stop transfer and call dispatch if irregularities occur.
  • For discharge operations, check engine and pump to ensure they are mechanically sound prior to beginning transfer.
  • Continuously monitor and adjust cargo flow and/or barge's mooring lines throughout transfer.
  • Upon dispatch approval, disconnect cargo arm or hose and complete required paperwork and log book once the transfer is complete.
  • Secure the barge's valves and openings and prepare the barge for sail.
  • Call dispatch with job information prior to departing job site.
  • Ability to work an on-call rotation schedule which includes days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Required to be ready at a moment’s notice, while on rotation to be dispatched to a job and arrive on dock within two hours, some cases ASAP.
  • Attendance and participation at monthly safety meetings, opportunity for improvement and change management activities.

Minimum Qualifications
