Job summary

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file Customs entries, ISF filings, post-summary work and other documentation.
• Review import documentation and resolve discrepancies or compliance issues.
• Ensure compliance with CBP, FDA, USDA, DOT, Fish & Wildlife and other agencies.
• Assist with protests, prior disclosures, penalties and audits.
• Support HTS classification, duty payments, bond requirements and POA validation.
• Monitor brokerage files and staff workloads for timely processing and consistency.
• Provide training, coaching and problem-solving support to staff.
• Oversee accuracy and timeliness of entries, ISF, and related activities.
• Coordinate with origin, destination, branches, customers and internal departments.
• Ensure timely post-clearance cargo delivery and accurate invoicing.
• Assist with brokerage financial report reconciliation and issue resolution.
• Communicate regulatory updates to employees and customers.
• Advance brokerage procedures, workflows and training programs.
• Escalate significant issues to management.

Position Summary

The Licensed Customs Broker will oversee and support customs clearance operations for ocean and air import shipments from initial notification through final billing. This position ensures timely, accurate filings, regulatory compliance, strong customer service, and effective support and guidance for brokerage staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and file Customs entries, ISF filings, post-summary work, and other required documentation.
• Review import documentation and resolve discrepancies or compliance issues proactively.
• Ensure compliance with CBP, FDA, USDA, DOT, Fish & Wildlife, and other applicable government agencies.
• Assist with Protests, Prior Disclosures, penalties, mitigations, audits, and other compliance matters.
• Support proper HTS classification, duty payments, bond requirements, POA validation, record retention, and internal compliance audits.
• Monitor brokerage files and staff workloads to ensure accurate, timely processing and consistent customer service.
• Provide operational guidance, training, coaching, and problem-solving support to brokerage team members.
• Oversee accuracy and timeliness of Customs entries, ISF, OGA filings, and related brokerage activities.
• Coordinate with origin, destination, branch offices, customers, and internal departments regarding shipment status and compliance matters.
• Ensure timely post-clearance cargo delivery and accurate customer invoicing.
• Assist with brokerage financial report reconciliation and resolution of billing or operational discrepancies.
• Communicate regulatory and industry updates to employees and customers.
• Support development and improvement of brokerage procedures, workflows, and employee training programs.
• Escalate significant operational, personnel, customer, compliance, or risk issues to management.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current U.S. Customs Broker License.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import compliance.
• Experience with Customs entries, ISF, ACE, In-Bond, AMS, and related brokerage processes.
• Proficiency with CargoWise and Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Ability to guide staff and manage multiple priorities accurately.

Preferred:

• 3+ years of Customs brokerage and/or freight forwarding operations experience.
• Supervisory, team leadership, training, coaching, or mentoring experience.

Other Details

This role works closely with brokerage staff, customers, internal departments, government agencies, and senior management to maintain operational quality and regulatory compliance.

This role may include additional responsibilities as needed based on business needs.
