Job description

UHP (Unlock Human Potential)

UHP is a veteran-focused education and leadership development organization based on an 800-acre campus in Northwest Arkansas. Through immersive, high-impact programs, we develop service members and veterans into leaders—equipped with the skills, mindset, and purpose to thrive in their next chapter.

Our approach is built on four core pillars: Think. Train. Feel. Lead.

We integrate human performance, leadership development, and real-world skill building to prepare individuals for meaningful, long-term careers.

Licensed Counselor & Instructor
The Opportunity

The Licensed Counselor & Instructor plays a critical role in delivering the UHP experience by supporting the emotional development, psychological safety, and performance readiness of our students.

This is a hybrid role that blends student support, group facilitation, and instructional leadership. It is not a traditional therapy role—instead, it focuses on creating a psychologically safe learning environment, providing brief supportive interventions, and equipping students with tools for emotional regulation, resilience, and growth.

You will work directly with student cohorts—primarily veterans in transition—while collaborating with instructors, coaches, and leadership to ensure a structured, high-performance learning environment.

What You’ll Do
Student Support & Psychological Safety
  • Provide brief one-on-one check-ins and emotional support within the learning environment
  • Help students regulate stress, navigate challenges, and stay engaged in the program
  • Assess emotional intensity and respond appropriately within scope (non-clinical setting)
  • Identify when external care is needed and coordinate referrals
  • Support conflict resolution and group dynamics
  • Participate in daily team syncs, student reviews, and After Action Reviews (AARs)
Instruction & Facilitation
  • Teach or co-teach modules on:
  • Emotional regulation
  • Stress management
  • Communication and empathy
  • Values-based decision-making
  • Mental performance foundations
  • Lead experiential, hands-on learning sessions (not lecture-based)
  • Model professionalism, presence, and psychological safety in the classroom
  • Contribute to curriculum development and refinement
Faculty & Staff Collaboration
  • Align daily with instructors and staff on student needs and progress
  • Support faculty in maintaining a structured and psychologically safe environment
  • Contribute to post-module debriefs and continuous program improvement
Program Integration & Culture
  • Develop tools and resources that support emotional development
  • Contribute across UHP programs (IHC, CPT, CNC, leadership tracks)
  • Support community-building and campus culture initiatives
  • Participate in AARs to improve program delivery and outcomes
What We’re Looking For

  • Experience teaching, facilitating, or working with adult learners
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong foundation in trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches (ACT, MI, mindfulness, NVC, CFT, IFS, etc.)
  • Ability to operate within clear boundaries between coaching, education, and clinical care
  • High emotional intelligence with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable navigating group dynamics and high-intensity environments
  • Ability to build trust quickly with diverse populations
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
