Job summary

Phoenix House of New York in Brentwood, NY seeks a Licensed Clinician to lead clinical quality, influence client outcomes, and coach staff across a multidisciplinary team. You’ll shape treatment journeys and ensure compassionate care at every stage of recovery.

The role requires a Master’s in social work or mental health counseling and NY independent licensure (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LPC or equivalent), plus 3–5 years in SUD treatment and 2 years of supervision.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work or mental health counseling.
• Independent NY license (LCSW/LMSW/LMHC/LPC or equivalent).
• 3–5 years in substance use disorder treatment; 2 years in clinical supervision.
• Familiarity with OASAS regulations and related bodies.

Responsibilities

• Partner with clinical staff to develop and refine treatment plans addressing mental health, substance use, education, and vocational needs.
• Lead and participate in interdisciplinary case conferences to ensure high-quality care.
• Deliver individual, group, and workshop-based therapeutic services with the clinical team.
• Provide ongoing clinical supervision, coaching, and staff development.
• Oversee and coordinate patient case management with social services, legal entities, schools, and community providers.
• Review and ensure quality of clinical documentation to support compliance.
• Lead or support clinical case review processes and program improvement efforts.
• Guide clients and staff through treatment progression and transitions.
• Support discharge planning and re-entry with resources and referrals.

We’re seeking a Licensed Clinician who is ready to lead with purpose, elevate clinical quality, and directly influence client outcomes. This is a high-impact clinical leadership role. You’ll directly influence the quality of care, support the growth of clinical staff, and help clients build a foundation for lasting recovery. This role is ideal for someone who can balance strong clinical expertise with leadership, coaching, and coordination across a multidisciplinary care environment.

You won’t just manage cases—you’ll shape treatment journeys, strengthen clinical teams, and ensure clients receive comprehensive, compassionate care across every stage of recovery.

• Deliver individual, group, and workshop-based therapeutic services in collaboration with the clinical team
• Provide ongoing clinical supervision, coaching, and staff development, fostering skill-building and accountability
• Oversee and coordinate patient case management, working closely with social services, legal entities, schools, and community providers
• Review and ensure quality of clinical documentation, supporting compliance and best practices
• Lead or support clinical case review processes and continuous program improvement efforts
• Guide clients and staff through treatment progression, ensuring appropriate transitions and continuity of care

Qualifications: REQUIRED EDUCATION

• Master's degree in social work or mental health counseling

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Independent license issued by New York State (e.g., LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LPC, or equivalent)
• Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in good standing is strongly preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum three to five years of experience working in substance use disorder treatment
• Minimum two years of experience in a providing clinical supervision and staff development
• Familiarity with OASAS regulations and those of other relevant bodies (i.e. housing providers, Department of Social Services, etc.
