Job summary

U.S.Vets in Washington, DC is seeking an Experienced Licensed Clinical Supervisor to lead clinical services and supervise staff. This full-time role reports to the Executive Director and partners with the National Director of Clinical Services to ensure evidence-based, coordinated client care.

You will provide direct services, supervision of interns and staff, and guidance on risk, treatment planning, and quality assurance.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or closely related field is required.
  • Current, unrestricted independent clinical license in DC or where the position is located.
  • Five years of clinical experience.
  • Three years of clinical supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct clinical services to clients (individual, couples, family, and group).
  • Conducts clinical screenings, psychosocial and intake assessments, treatment planning, progress notes, referrals, and documentation.

The Licensed Clinical Supervisor reports directly to the Executive Director, with matrixed reporting to the National Director of Clinical Services. This position provides clinical leadership and oversight while maintaining a strong emphasis on direct services to clients. The Licensed Clinical Supervisor provides individual and group clinical supervision, supervises clinical interns and other staff requiring clinical oversight, and provides case consultation and clinical guidance to the broader clinical and case management team, including case managers. The position supports high-quality, coordinated, evidence-based services through clinical assessment and treatment, case consultation, staff development, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct clinical services to clients, including evidence-based individual, couples, family, and/or group interventions as appropriate to the population served.
  • Conducts and documents clinical screenings, psychosocial assessments, clinical intake assessments, treatment planning, progress notes, referrals, and other required clinical documentation.
  • Provides individual and group clinical supervision to clinical staff and other staff requiring licensed clinical supervision, consistent with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and organizational policy.
  • Supervises clinical interns and trainees, including oversight of clinical practice, documentation, professional development, and compliance with applicable educational and licensing requirements.
  • Provides ongoing case consultation, clinical guidance, and oversight to the clinical team and case management staff, including case managers, to support appropriate interventions, risk assessment, service planning, and coordinated care.
  • Meets regularly with clinical and program teams to review caseloads, complex cases, clinical concerns, client progress, risk issues, and service coordination needs.
  • Supports the Executive Director in maintaining effective clinical operations and communicates clinical priorities, concerns, and recommendations to site leadership.
  • Maintains matrixed collaboration with the National Director of Clinical Services to support organizational clinical standards, consultation, training, quality improvement, and consistency of clinical practice.
  • Ensures clinical services are delivered in compliance with established protocols, policies, ethical standards, applicable licensing requirements, and professional standards of practice.
  • Collaborates with leadership to establish training and professional development plans for clinicians, interns, case managers, and other program staff as appropriate.
  • Monitors and facilitates the implementation of evidence-based and evidence-informed practices and promotes measurement-based and outcomes-focused clinical care where appropriate.
  • Provides consultation and support related to crisis response, safety planning, clinical risk assessment, and other urgent clinical matters within the scope of the position and applicable site procedures.
  • Ensures quality assurance and conducts clinical and regulatory compliance reviews of client records, including electronic and paper records as applicable.
  • Identifies trends, service gaps, training needs, and opportunities for continuous quality improvement and provides recommendations to the Executive Director and National Director of Clinical Services.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with case management, medical providers, behavioral health providers, caregivers, community partners, and other disciplines to support comprehensive and coordinated client care.
  • Participates in clinical, supervision, administrative, and multidisciplinary team meetings as required.
  • Provides services through in-person, telehealth, or other approved service-delivery methods as appropriate.
  • Prepares or contributes to clinical, quality assurance, compliance, and program reports as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequirements
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a closely related clinical behavioral health field required.
  • Current, unrestricted independent clinical license in good standing that authorizes independent clinical practice in the state or the District of Columbia where the position is located. Acceptable license type will be based on the jurisdiction and scope of practice applicable to the position.
  • Must meet all applicable jurisdictional requirements to provide clinical supervision to licensed, pre-licensed, associate, trainee, and/or intern staff, as relevant to the position.
  • At least five years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • At least three years of clinical supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience providing direct behavioral health services, clinical assessment, treatment planning, and case consultation.
  • Experience supervising interns, trainees, or developing clinicians preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical consultation and oversight to multidisciplinary teams, including case managers and other direct-service staff.
  • Knowledge of current DSM diagnostic criteria and behavioral health assessment practices.
  • Experience in trauma-related diagnosis and treatment, including PTSD, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based and evidence-informed practices, targeted treatment modalities, and measurement-based care.
  • Experience working with military populations and/or veterans strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, consultation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound independent clinical judgment while working collaboratively with site leadership, national clinical leadership, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse clients, staff, interns, and community partners.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records, computer systems, and other information systems used in service delivery and documentation.
  • Reliable transportation required when travel is an essential function of the position.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurance and driver training requirements when driving is required for assigned job duties.
