Job summary

Maine Drilling & Blasting, a majority employee-owned company, is seeking a Licensed Blaster to perform blasting activities under supervision and ensure safety compliance. The role requires completion of Blaster I and Blaster II training, a valid blasting certificate where required, and the ability to transport explosives across state lines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of two years’ experience with drills and explosives.
• Blaster I training completed; Blaster II training required.
• Valid blasting certificate where required.
• Good communications skills essential.
• CDL with Hazmat endorsement and company-qualified driver; need clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel out of town/state.
• Background check with ATF required.
• Deep knowledge of blasting design, loading holes, detonators, readings, and blast site security.
• Proficiency in all drill operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform blasting activities as directed by Blasting Supervisor/Project Superintendent.
• Work as a job-site blaster and communicate blasting results to supervision.
• Provide input on blast-related plans and troubleshooting.
• Verify pre-blast inspections and complete required paperwork.
• Set up seismographs and conduct pre-blast tests when needed.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
