Job summary

Maine Drilling & Blasting is seeking a Blaster Trainee with experience in drills and explosives. This on-the- job trainee role assists the Blaster in coordinating daily drilling and blasting activities and offers hands-on learning in blasting and site supervision.

Candidates should have at least two years of explosives experience or military explosive handling, be able to travel as needed, and be capable of obtaining blasting licenses.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• MUST have at least two years' experience working with drills and explosives, or previous military experience in explosive handling.
• Demonstrates basic blasting problem solving skills.
• Able to travel out of town as needed.
• Ability to obtain blasting licenses.
• Must be able to pass ATF screenings.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Blaster in charge with coordinating daily drilling and blasting activities.
• Trains to be proficient in blasting techniques.
• Develops a solid understanding of proper explosives product use and various applications.
• Assists the Blaster with maintaining the daily blasting production schedule.
• Assists the Blaster with site security.
• Follows company safety policies and performs work safely.
• Attends company meetings and daily heads-up meetings.
• Assists Blaster with setting up seismographs and drill pattern layout.
• Monitors the relationship between blast pattern and digging type.
• Accounts for explosives and drill supply usage and inventory.
• May transport explosives across state lines.
• Completes trip manifests, shot reports, cost sheets and related paperwork.
