Job summary

Job description

South Central Human Service Center is seeking Licensed Addiction Counselor in Jamestown, ND.

Be part of the solution to the behavioral health crisis. As a team member for ND Department of Health & Human Services, you will ensure the most vulnerable have access to a high-quality healthcare system in which prevention works, treatment is effective, and people recover.

As an Addiction Counselor, you will provide individuals opportunity for recovery management so they can live and lead productive lives in their home community.

In a typical week of a counselor, you will complete level of care screenings and assist in developing integrated service plans. You will provide short-term individual, family, and group counseling. You will provide crisis intervention and risk assessments. Also, you will provide education and consult to families, community, interns, and residents.

You will thrive in this position, if you are committed to a rehabilitive and person-centered philosophy and comfortable providing services in homes and communities. Services are provided at a residential substance use treatment facility, at a transitional living facility, as well as in homes and the community.

To be considered for the Addiction Counselor position, you are required to have a bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology, AND have current licensure as an Addiction Counselor (LAC) by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners.

We will consider filling with an Addiction Tech at a lower pay rate:

• Must have completed all but two academic courses required for the addiction counseling field in a bachelor's or master's degree program, this includes Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counseling or Psychology. Individuals in this class must complete all coursework, training, and/or tests and obtain an addiction counselor license from the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners within 6 months of the date hired. In order to be considered for an Addiction Tech position you must have applied to be part of a Addiction Consortium and accepted by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners.

This position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of the assigned defensive driving course during new-hire orientation.

Location

This position provides essential client services face to face and therefore the person in this position needs to be able to travel to meet clients at their location. A state fleet vehicle will be available for use when traveling to clients.
