Shreve Lib is seeking a Library Technician - Youth Services to assist patrons, manage materials, and support youth programs. The role involves frequent customer interaction, technology use, and multitasking in a public library setting.
Responsibilities include reference and readers' advisory, program planning, collection development, and outreach. Travel to other locations may be required; on-the-job training is provided.
Under periodic supervision, the Library Technician - Youth Services performs a variety of public service functions, including assisting patrons, managing materials, and supporting library programs. This role requires frequent customer interaction, knowledge of current technology, and the ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently. Employees receive on-the-job training and perform related duties as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, twist, talk, hear, and use hands to reach for, finger, grasp, handle, feel and/or operate objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee is occasionally to frequently, required to climb, balance, stoop, crouch, squat, kneel, and crawl. The employee must occasionally to frequently lift and/or carry up to twenty pounds, frequently to constantly lift and/or carry up to ten pounds. Employee must frequently to constantly push and/or pull loaded book carts and/or boxes of materials weighing up to seventy-five pounds.
Monday - Wednesday: 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. (with 1-hour paid lunch)
May be asked to work a Sunday shift as needed.

A criminal background check, reference check, and a drug screening are part of the pre-hire process. The State of Louisiana Revised Statute 15:587.1.1 requires fingerprinting by local law enforcement and background checks by the Louisiana Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information and will be conducted on a yearly basis. A mandatory full day orientation is part of the new hire process; these orientations are on Tuesdays from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
