Army NAF seeks a library assistant to provide a wide range of public services, including registering patrons, processing charges and overdues, and assisting with interlibrary loans and reserves. Duties
  • Provides technician support by performing a wide variety of direct services to the public: registers patrons, charges/discharges materials, processes overdues and reserves, assists with interlibrary loans and reserves.
  • Shelves library materials, prepares displays, programs activities, answers basic reference questions, and assists customers in locating materials.
  • Provides technical services support in a variety of functions: basic/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing and de-acquisitioning of library materials.
  • Assists in maintaining accountability records and in performing shelf inventories. Performs simple maintenance on the library's automated systems.
  • Incumbent may perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing of loaded trucks; and recurring lifting of heavy items such as boxes of books or journals.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
  • Incumbent may also require to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Incumbent required to work rotating shifts that include nights, weekends and holidays.

A qualified candidate must possess the following

Minimum Qualifications
  • One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade OR....
  • Two years of education above high school OR..
  • A combination of specialized experience and education that equates to 100% of the qualification requirements.

Area of Consideration

  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
