Job summary

The County of Davidson is seeking a library assistant to provide customer support at the circulation desk and assist patrons with reference resources. The role includes registering patrons for cards, promoting new materials, and helping with teen and Summer Reading programming.

  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to the general public and instruct them in locating information to meet their needs.
  • Ability to provide guidance to volunteers in basic library functions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and community partners.
  • Demonstrate willingness to support coworkers, contribute ideas, and adapt flexibly to various situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patrons from a diverse population of people, vendors, other libraries, and the general public.

Responsibilities

  • Check materials in and out at the circulation desk.

Work generally requires the employee to check materials in and out at the circulation desk and assist patrons with reference methods and resources.
