Job summary

GEO Secured Services is seeking a Library Technician to support daily library operations in a secured facility. You will assist with cataloging, circulation, and maintenance of periodicals and materials under supervision.

You will also help train detainee library aides, conduct inventories, and coordinate with instructors to orient new users, ensuring accurate records and smooth access for staff and inmates. Strong attention to detail and comfort with library software are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Bachelor's degree in library sciences or related field or provisional/professional Librarian Certification preferred.
• Experience and/or training preferred in assisting in the operation of a small institutional library.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and organizes the circulation of library materials.
• Assists in the directing and training of detainee library aides.
• The Library Technician assists in the selection of library books, periodicals and materials for purchase.
• Conducts library inventories. Prepares, maintains and reports appropriate records pertaining to circulation, inventory, newspapers and magazines.
• May assist in conducting library orientation for classes in coordination with instructors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
