Job summary

The New York Botanical Garden is seeking a Systems Librarian to lead the Library’s systems infrastructure, applications, and digital services. You will work across core systems (ILS, discovery, e-resources) and collaborate with IT and external vendors to ensure reliable, secure, accessible, and interoperable services for researchers, staff, and the global community.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited MLS required.
• Strong ability to learn and implement new technologies.
• Experience with library systems integration and web services.
• Knowledge of metadata standards (MARC, EAD, MODS, METS, Dublin Core).

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, maintain, troubleshoot and support integration among core systems (ILS, discovery, e-resources, authentication like EZproxy).
• Collaborate with IT staff, Library staff and vendors to evaluate, implement, and support library technologies, services, workflows.
• Collect, analyze, and report system usage and performance data for planning and decision making.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, standards, and best practices.
• Maintain the Library website and related web services with staff and partners.
• Provide training and technical support to Library staff on systems and workflows.
• Lead system upgrades, migrations, testing, and major technology initiatives, including potential new ILS.
• Evaluate emerging technologies including AI-enabled tools for library services and workflows.
• Provide scheduled public service coverage (2–3 hours weekly).
• Coordinate interns and project staff as assigned.
