Job summary

The University of Virginia Library is hiring Stacks Assistants for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. These are part-time positions (six to ten hours per week) with Work-Study eligibility required. Full training is provided and compensation is $14.53/hour.

Responsibilities include reshelving materials, moving sections of books, assisting patrons with searches, retrieving used books, and general stacks maintenance. Candidates should have strong attention to detail and the ability to learn the Library of

• Reshelving library materials so they are available to patrons.
• Move/shift sections of books when space is needed for new or returned books or as part of special projects.
• Assist patrons with book searches.
• Retrieve used books from the stacks.
• Perform general stacks maintenance (e.g., light dusting, placing bookends).
