Job summary

Sacramento Public Library Authority seeks a leader to plan, organize, and supervise the Library Social Services Program. You will mentor interns, set standards for staff referrals, and develop community partnerships to connect patrons with local social services.

Qualifications include an MSW and at least five years in social services, with two years supervising others. A commitment to equity and community engagement is essential.

Qualifications

  • MSW degree from an accredited program.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in social services, community-based programs, or public sector service delivery.
  • At least two (2) years of experience supervising staff, interns, or volunteers.
  • Experience working with diverse and underserved populations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, design, coordinate, and oversee the library’s social work internship program.
  • Serve as field instructor for social work interns, supervising and mentoring them.
  • Establish partnerships with colleges and universities to support student placements.
  • Coordinate referrals to local housing, behavioral health, and social service providers.
  • Provide guidance and training to Public Services staff on trauma-informed service and client navigation.
  • Collaborate with Public Services leadership to align social service support with branches and programs.
  • Develop protocols for referrals, boundaries of service, and risk considerations.

Education

Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
