Job summary

Brazoria County is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to sort, shelve, and maintain library materials. This role supports patrons in using collections, catalogs, and related services, and assists with programs and outreach. Attendance on weekdays and some evenings/weekends is required.

Candidate must be at least 16 and have completed 2 years of high school, with the ability to read complex documents and communicate effectively with the public.

Responsibilities

• Regular attendance and arriving on time to assigned location.
• Sort and shelve library materials using Dewey Decimal system.
• Keep shelves tidy and organize as needed.
• Assist patrons with catalogs, resources, and services.
• Help with library programs, outreach, and office tasks.
• Answer telephone calls and follow library policies.
• Must have reliable transportation; evenings and weekends required.
