Job summary

The City of Corpus Christi library is seeking a Library Assistant to join the front line of customer service at the Corpus Christi Public Library. This part-time role supports patrons at the service desk, assists with materials processing, and helps users with computers and research.

The successful candidate will have an Associate degree or a two-year certificate and at least two years of experience, plus strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree (AA/AS) or 2-year Technical Certificate
• Two (2) years of experience

Responsibilities

• Assists patrons at the public service desk and delivers high-quality customer service.
• Explains policies and procedures to patrons in a firm and tactful manner.
• Resolves patron complaints related to fines or fees.
• Uses the Integrated Library System to check materials in/out and manage records.
• Assists with computer-related tasks and information literacy instruction.
• Performs opening and closing procedures and prepares desk schedules.
• Provides reference assistance and supports local history collections.
• Prepares and processes library materials, invoices, and vendor communications.
