Job summary

Pines & Plains Libraries is seeking a Substitute Library Service Technician to support daily library operations in Elbert County. This role covers shifts in the absence of higher-level staff, handling reader advisory, reference, circulation tasks, and occasional program support.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Work hours vary; eligibility for benefits includes sick time and PERA plan.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or GED) and some public-facing experience.
• Ability to deal courteously with the public and assist patrons.
• Basic knowledge of computers or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with reader advisory questions and provide reference services.
• Execute scheduled programs and assist as needed.
• Provide training on library catalogs, databases and the Internet.
• Shelve materials, perform circulation duties, and process materials as directed.
• Collect fines and donations and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain a clean, safe library environment and report repairs as needed.
• Attend district meetings and participate in ongoing staff training.
• Support the use of modern library technology in daily operations.
