Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer - Learning & Resource Center for a prominent public library location in New York. You will provide customer service, monitor and patrol assigned areas, assist with access control, and report security concerns using clear communication and technology.

This full-time role requires NYS Security Guard License, high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to be 18+ (21+ for armed positions). Training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
• Access control/badge experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, patrons, staff, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, patron concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout public areas, reading rooms, entrances, exits, staff areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and help maintain orderly entry and exit procedures in accordance with site-specific policies.
• Document observations, incidents, and unusual activities accurately and promptly, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal supervision and site representatives.
