Job summary

Riverside County Library System is seeking a Library Safety and Security Manager to lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and security practices across library locations. You will provide system-wide guidance on patron interactions, incident analysis, staff training, and risk reduction.

The role collaborates with Operations Leadership, HR, branch managers, security vendors, and client partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in criminal justice, security, public admin, emergency or risk management.
• 3–5 years of progressively responsible safety/security experience, public-facing operations.
• Experience in public libraries and managing behavioral incidents, threats, or safety concerns.
• Knowledge of de-escalation, conflict management, situational awareness and related safety practices.
• Experience overseeing contracted security services and familiarity with camera systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain procedures for patron safety and security in public-facing library operations.
• Review incidents to identify trends and prevention opportunities; support staff in response.
• Manage contracted security services, oversee post orders, scopes of work, and vendor relations.
• Deliver safety and security training for employees and managers; build staff preparedness.
• Analyze incident data and collaborate with partners to reduce risks and improve safety.
