Job summary

Daniel Boone Regional Library is seeking a Security Officer to respond to security incidents across all facilities. The role will involve assisting staff, monitoring cameras, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for patrons and colleagues.

Responsibilities include training new hires, performing investigations, and coordinating with local emergency services. Travel to branch locations may be required; EMT/Paramedic-style readiness is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with 48 college credits; experience may substitute for college credit.
• 1–3 years of law enforcement, security or emergency management experience.
• Possession of a valid Missouri driver’s license.
• Evening shifts and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Respond to day-to-day security calls at all DBRL facilities.
• Work with customers and staff to address reported security issues during all hours of operation.
• Monitor library security camera systems and review footage.
• Assist with internal and external investigations.
• Provide training for new hires and ongoing staff on safety and security protocols.
• Assess training needs of contracted security officers and provide training as necessary.
• Travel from Columbia to other branches as needed.
• Administer basic first aid and coordinate medical responses with local emergency services.
