St. Louis Public Library is seeking a Public Safety Officer in Saint Louis, MO to protect staff, customers and assets while remaining unarmed.

The position is full-time with rotating shifts and a starting hourly rate of $17.61. Duties include patrolling property, conducting monthly inspections, creating incident reports, handling maintenance requests, inspecting doors/windows, contacting emergency services, enforcing library rules, arming/disarming alarms, and responding to after-hours safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Security License required through St. Louis City/County Police Department.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of customer service principles.
• Knowledge of security operations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Patrol Library property inside the building and its perimeters.
• Conduct a monthly inspection on assigned Library locations.
• Create incident reports to track safety concerns, including daily activities and irregularities.
• Create maintenance requests to identify attention needed to a specific matter.
• Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure security.
• Notify Police and Fire Departments by telephone in case of emergency situations.
• Enforce Library rules, including providing warnings and apprehending/evicting violators.
• Activate and deactivate security alarms.
• Respond to public safety matters after hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
