Job summary

The City of Avondale is seeking a Library Programmer in the Parks, Recreation & Libraries Department to deliver public programs, assist patrons with cataloging and resources, and support library operations. The role includes opening/closing duties and supervising volunteers as needed.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate’s Degree or equivalent, at least one year of public library or customer service experience, and the ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of library experience in a public contact environment.
• One (1) year of customer service experience with delivering library programs.
• Bilingual speaking skills (Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present public programs, cataloging, bibliographic searches, and assisting patrons with locating materials and using computer resources.
• Provide lead supervision in the absence of a supervisor, including opening/closing duties and securing the facility.
• Assist patrons, process book requests, and manage fines, fees, and payments, including credit card transactions.
