Job summary

The City of Idaho Falls is seeking a Library Aide to perform basic page duties and maintain the library collection. Under supervision, you will help ensure that materials are accessible and correctly shelved for patrons.

Responsibilities include shelving, checking items in and out, collecting fines, assisting visitors, and keeping the library clean and organized in a friendly, public environment.

Qualifications

• Educational background sufficient to perform the above tasks; no experience required.
• Ability to shelve accurately and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Develop good working relations with staff and the public; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Shelves books according to Dewey Decimal System and alphabetical order.
• Straightens and reads shelves.
• Checks books in and out as assigned.
• Collects fines and issues receipts; may handle specialized collection duties.
• Performs cleaning as assigned.
• Performs related duties as required.
