Job summary

The Seattle Public Library is hiring an Operations Manager within Staffing, Operations and Volunteer Services at Central Library in Seattle. You will co-manage scheduling, supervise staff, expand the volunteer program and redesign the Student Assistant Program to provide meaningful first-job experiences.

Ideal candidates bring at least two years of supervisory experience, strong project and operations management skills, and a proven ability to work effectively in a union environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum two years of supervisory or lead experience, preferably in a union environment.
• Experience scheduling and coordinating staff and volunteers.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Co-manage the Scheduling Office intermittent staff pool and train staff for varied assignments.
• Directly supervise one Volunteer Services Coordinator and support volunteers.
• Develop and expand the systemwide volunteer program to strengthen community connections.
• Provide orientation and training sessions for staff and volunteers with learning objectives.
• Redesign and relaunch the Student Assistant Program to provide meaningful first-job experience.
• Coordinate new employee orientation and onboarding for the Library Experience and Engagement Division.
