A leading public library district is seeking a Library Media Technician to manage operations in the library media center. Responsibilities include supporting library technology, maintaining materials, and assisting students and staff with resources. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, a high school diploma, and a background in technology support.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for organizing and coordinating office operations and procedures in order to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the library media center.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. Twelve (12) Month
2. Eight (8) hours per day as assigned
3. May include nights, weekends, or holidays to support events and emergencies
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members in a friendly and professional manner.
2. Assist with the general operation and maintenance of the library media center.
3. Assist with the student and staff use of library computers, scanners, printers, copiers, one-to-one devices, mobile labs, learning management systems, information retrieval systems, and software.
4. Assist with library circulation of print materials, processing fines, generating reports, etc and the library’s participation in the inter-library loan program.
5. Catalog, process, and maintain new and current library materials, including data entry, labeling, and shelving.
6. Assist the information media specialist with library activities and special events.
7. Prepare and/or present instructional materials, displays, exhibits, correspondence, and publications as requested.
8. Remove materials that are no longer appropriate or are unusable as directed by the information media specialist and per the District Asset Disposal Policy.
9. Assist in the coordination, supervision, and check-in/direction of students, student assistants, and volunteers within legal guidelines.
10. Install and troubleshoot district software and other instructional enhancing technologies.
11. Prepare and maintain technology documentation and inventories for the one-to-one devices.
12. Utilize the district’s work order system for logging the troubleshooting and repairs of one-to-one devices and print materials.
13. Provide training for staff and students on district technologies and software when needed or requested by the Director of Technology.
14. Assist with the purchasing of print and digital materials, consumables, and technical equipment and parts by the information media specialist and director of technology.
15. Complete an annual inventory of printed materials and technology to identify and resolve discrepancies.
16. Keep current with best practices and requirements as they relate to the job.
17. Perform such other job related duties and assume such other professional responsibilities as your supervisor may assign.
18. Represent Hononegah Community High School in a professional manner.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High School Diploma, Associate Degree preferred
2. Experience in clerical roles, technology support, and/or student supervision preferred
3. Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computers and various word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs and the use of other office equipment
ANALYTICAL & INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
1. Ability to read and interpret documents.
2. Ability to write routinely and speak effectively before groups of employees.
3. Ability to work independently and in an acceptable time frame.
4. Ability to maintain efficient office procedures and systems for keeping track of requested action and reports.
5. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and apply basic concepts of algebra.
6. Ability to apply critical thinking skills and new technologies in rendering solutions to various technical issues.
7. Ability to use technology for word processing, collaboration, presentation, database, and spreadsheet programs and the use of other office equipment.
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective, appropriate working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
9. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with proper technique.
2. Ability to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, and sit for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to bend and twist at the neck and trunk to maneuver office work spaces.
4. Ability to hear and see close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and perceive depth.
5. Ability to use fine motor skills to complete detailed work for use on office equipment and technology.
