Job summary

Chehalis School District is seeking a Leave Replacement Library Media Ed Para Specialist at Chehalis Middle School. The position runs from January 4, 2027 to April 30, 2027 (78 days), with a 7.5-hour work day from approximately 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The role oversees the library media center, assists staff and students with resources, manages technology in the media center, and fosters a welcoming environment that supports student engagement and a love of reading.

Qualifications

• Experience in clerical, bookkeeping, or administrative support.
• Demonstrated customer service and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. In addition, must meet one of the following:

Responsibilities

• Check-In and Check-Out books and classroom materials.
• Maintain inventory on all library materials, catalog records and library user records.
• Monitor library budget, implement purchasing procedures and oversee expenditures.
• Use Follett Destiny circulation system for maintaining, searching, and expanding library collection.
• Assist Principals with requisitions of new media center materials.
• Assist teachers in selecting books and other instructional materials.
• Create displays to increase student engagement.
• Repair books (broken spines, torn pages, etc.).
• Perform library collection management and submit surplus items for approval.
• Help students develop independent reference skills.
• Prepare written materials to communicate school and district activities.
