Job summary

Sevier County Library System is hiring a Custodian I to support custodial and cleaning duties at multiple library locations. You will maintain cleanliness, follow cleaning schedules, and assist with basic building maintenance.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and decision‑making skills are required. This role involves labor‑intensive work in various weather conditions and frequent interaction with staff and the public.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Tennessee driver's license and automobile insurance.
• Ability to pass a physical and drug screen administered through a licensed physician.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, vacuum, and mop offices, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas daily.
• Empty trash and remove debris from common areas and grounds.
• Dust and clean countertops, windowsills, tables, and surfaces as needed.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms daily.
• Move furniture and perform floor care as required (strip/wax).
• Deliver books and materials per established schedules and requests.
• Report maintenance issues to Library Director for resolution.
• Interacts with staff and public to provide general assistance.
