Job summary

Penn State University Libraries seeks a collaborative Head of Library Experience and Services at Associate or Full rank to advance a culture of service quality and student success. This role leads public service points across University Park, including Pattee and Paterno Libraries, and collaborates with campus units to unify service experiences.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Learning and Engagement, the Head will set departmental vision, mentor staff, and drive assessment, access,

Qualifications

Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent).
Substantial experience with academic library public services including reference, service integration, accessibility, and operational planning.
Demonstrated supervisory and empathetic leadership and communication skills.
Commitment to shared governance and faculty partnership.
Experience fostering collaboration across diverse communities and providing inclusive service.

Responsibilities

Set strategic direction for the Library Experience and Services portfolio and unify service cultures.
Supervise and develop service point managers, supervisors, and coordinators.
Oversee service operations including scheduling, staffing models, and coverage planning.
