Job summary

The State Library of Ohio invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of SearchOhio Library Consultant to be located in either Columbus, OH or Caldwell, OH.

The successful candidate will act as the primary contact for SearchOhio member libraries, guide and support library staff, coordinate system upgrades with vendors, and help plan statewide resource sharing activities. A Master’s degree in library science and relevant budgeting/management experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in library science from accredited college or university.
  • 12 months experience in library science position performing budgeting & project management tasks or in management &/or administration.
  • 5 years experience in library science position.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for SearchOhio member libraries, providing ongoing communication, guidance, support, and problem resolution.
  • Train library staff on the SearchOhio platform and procedures, using knowledge of multiple integrated library systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors, coordinate system enhancements, and support system upgrades.
  • Plan, prioritize, evaluate, and organize statewide resource sharing activities.

What are the position's duties?
  • Most of the successful candidate's time will be spent serving as the primary point of contact for SearchOhio member libraries (i.e. providing ongoing communication, guidance, support, problem resolution)
  • This position includes responsibilities related to training library staff on the SearchOhio platform and procedures, utilizing knowledge of multiple integrated library systems
  • Time will be spent working with vendors, coordinating system enhancements, and supporting system upgrades
  • Planning, prioritizing, evaluating, and organizing statewide resource sharing activities will also be a priority.
