Job summary

Boston College Libraries are seeking a full-time Conservation & Preservation Specialist to support six campus libraries within a libraries-wide Preservation program. The Specialist performs conservation treatment and constructs enclosures for general and special collections, and contributes to preventive preservation, disaster planning and response.

Reporting to the Conservation and Preservation Manager, this role includes hiring and supervising part-time student assistants and/or interns, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and prior work experience in conservation or book binding are preferred.
• Experience with academic or research library collections is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform conservation treatments and construct enclosures for general and special collections.
• Support preventive preservation, disaster planning and response, policy and training.
• Consult across library departments.
• Hire and supervise part-time student assistants and/or interns.
