Fort Bend County's Mission Bend Branch Library is seeking a Library Clerk II to provide front-line service, process materials, and support daily operations. The role involves cashier duties, data entry, and assisting with staff supervision in a busy library setting.

The position requires evening and weekend hours, familiarity with the integrated library system, and strong computer and customer-service skills. Fort Bend County offers full benefits and retirement options.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Two years of job-related experience.
• Strong computer skills with Internet, email and Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent communication and ability to work with a diverse public and staff.
• Ability to learn library software applications and shelving classifications.
• Evening and weekend hours required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of service for patrons entering the building or calling the library.
• Assist with training and supervision of part-time library clerks.
• Charge/Discharge library materials using the integrated library system.
• Input patron data in automated circulation system and issue library cards.
• Handle fines, cash, deposits and daily reports.
• Reroute materials to other branches and shelve items as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Perform duties such as ordering supplies and processing invoices.
• Participate in emergency management activities as directed.
