Job summary

Fort Bend County library is seeking a service-oriented team member to serve as the first point of contact for patrons, both in person and by phone, assisting with circulation, holds, and ILL.

The role requires strong computer skills, adaptability, occasional evening/weekend shifts, and the ability to train part-time clerks; candidates must be able to lift 25 lb and work in a dynamic public environment. Fort Bend County provides a benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Two years of related work experience.
• Strong computer skills with Internet, email, and MS Office.
• Good communication and ability to work with a diverse public.
• Ability to learn library software and shelving classifications.
• Ability to interpret policy and solve problems; handle interruptions.
• Evening and weekend hours required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of service for patrons; refer to other departments.
• Assist with training and supervision of part-time clerks.
• Operate circulation systems including holds and ILL.
• Handle payments for fines and process deposits and reports.
• Reroute materials to branches and manage holds.
• Load/unload bins weighing up to 25 lbs and shelve materials.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Other duties as assigned.
