Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• General knowledge of PCs, Windows, MS Office and the Internet.
• Ability to assist patrons in a tactful and courteous manner.
• Some knowledge of record keeping and reporting.
• Capacity to lift up to 25 pounds and perform light physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Check library materials in and out and register patrons.
• Update patron records and prepare daily automated reports.
• Collect overdue fines and fees; count money in cash drawers.
• Answer telephone inquiries and route to appropriate officials.
• Assist patrons with library equipment and hold requests.
• Read shelves, pull items, and assist with shelving as needed.
• Supervise pages and community service workers when supervisor is unavailable.
• Close and secure the building at the end of the day.
