Job summary

South Texas College is seeking a Library Technician to support the Circulation Desk (Help Desk) and work closely with staff, students and faculty. You will assist users in locating materials, perform circulation duties, and help with inventory, displays and outreach events.

Qualifications

• To qualify, one of the following must be met: Associate's degree
• A minimum of 60 earned college hours
• At least two (2) years of library work experience in an educational institution, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides and promotes excellent customer service through answering routine inquiries and assisting library users in locating materials appropriate to their interest or needs.
• Performs circulation duties.
• Assists with annual collection inventory, sorts and shelves library materials, assists with the collection and the distribution of Library Services mail.
• Monitors library computers as assigned.
• Assists in maintaining appropriate student conduct in the library.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of library technology systems, software, and procedures.
• Maintains departmental files and keeps statistics and records producing reports
• Performs cash handling duties in accordance with cash handling procedures.
• Assists with creating monthly and specialized book displays
• Assists with promoting library services at outreach and district-wide library events.
