Job summary

Lorain Public Library is seeking a Branch Manager for the South Lorain Branch. The role leads branch operations, engages with the community, oversees budgeting and staffing, and guides program planning, with a focus on service excellence.

The position requires a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, 5+ years of experience, and strong supervisory skills; a public library background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science is required.
• 5+ years of relevant experience preferred.
• 2+ years of supervising experience preferred.
• Pre-employment drug screening is required.
• Criminal background and education verification checks are required.
• OLC certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises employees, provides direction, coaches, trains and develops, hires, and manages performance to goals and expectations.
• Manages budgets and resources; understands the library’s financial position.
• Oversees branch operations and serves as a member of management.
• Coordinates programming, community engagement, and marketing efforts.
• Trains and evaluates staff; directs operations, policy development, and long-range planning.
• Attends meetings and may lead standing or special committees.
