Working as a Library Assistant, you can expect to play a key role in maintaining an organized, welcoming, and efficient library environment for patrons and staff alike. Responsibilities include ensuring the accurate placement and organization of library materials by sorting, shelving, and re-shelving items in proper alpha/numeric order, as well as processing returned materials through the library’s automated system. In this role, you will help maintain the appearance and accessibility of library collections, including stack areas and newspaper sections, while supporting efforts to improve circulation and organization through new ideas and methods. Additional duties include repairing and preserving library materials through basic book maintenance to help keep the collection in excellent condition for community use. This position will work approximately 16 hours per week including some evenings and/or weekend work. Here is what you need to be considered for the position of Library Assistant:
High school diploma or GED
One (1) year of previous experience/training in office management, office administration, customer service, record management, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
