The Wellesley Free Library (WFL) is seeking a fearless,flexible and fun full-time (35 hours/week) Library Assistantin the Circulation Department. Duties includeproviding excellent customer service at the Main and BranchLibraries, checking in and checking out of librarymaterials; assisting patrons in the use of self-checkterminals; shelving materials; shelf-reading; assistingcustomers at public service desks; filling items on dailypaging list; dispensing general information to customers;performing network transfer functions; assisting librariansin Tech Time; and assisting with outreach. Thesuccessful candidate will work with a strong team and haveexcellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills;the ability to consistently work calmly, diplomatically andaccurately, even in high pressure situations; the ability toadapt quickly and easily to new procedures and practices ina continually evolving environment; the ability to handleambiguous situations; and the ability to use informedjudgment and common sense. The work schedule willinclude evening, weekend and weekday hours and may change tofit the needs of the department.
The requirements are a High School diploma orequivalent; working knowledge of automated systems;excellent interpersonal, oral communication and customerservice skills; and six months of clerical or retail workexperience.
