Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Librarian I-Academic Liaison at the University Library to assist with teaching library orientations and Research Skills to students and the public. You will coordinate on-campus instruction as requested by instructors and design presentations, handouts, and content for library training.

You’ll interact with patrons to help select materials and meet informational needs, and you may cover in the absence of the Academic Liaison.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Knowledge of current library practices and technologies.
  • Ability to assist patrons and complete projects in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with teaching library orientations and Research Skills to students and the public.
  • Assists with coordinating library instruction on campus as requested by instructors.
  • Designs and prepares presentations, handouts, and content for library instruction.
  • Interacts with patrons to assist with selection of materials and information needs.
  • Assumes library instruction duties in the absence of the Academic Liaison.
  • Handles transfers and materials on reserve in the absence of the Academic Liaison.
  • Participates in emergency management activities during a local state of disaster.

Librarian I-Academic Liaison-University Library
  • Assists with teaching Library orientations and Research Skills to students and public library patrons.
  • Assists with teaching coordinated library instruction on campus, as requested by individual instructors and faculty.
  • Designs and prepares presentations, handouts and content for Library orientations, Research Skills and coordinated library instruction.
  • Interacts with the library patrons to assist them in selecting materials or meeting informational needs.
  • Responsible for the library instruction in the absence of the Academic Liaison.
  • Responsible of transfers and materials placed on reserve by students, instructors and faculty in the absence of the Academic Liaison.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school; knowledge of current library practices and technologies.
  • 2 years of job related experience.
  • Computer skills, good verbal and written communication, organizational skills. Good interpersonal skills and ability to assist patrons of varying educational levels; and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, students, faculty, staff and elected officials. Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.

SALARY: 25.71 - 32.14/ Hourly
