Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Liaison for Computing (LFC) is a technologist role that prioritizes building relationships with constituents so as to increase the effectiveness of IT support and, by extension, provide an exceptional educational experience for our students. The LFC serves as the primary point of contact for IT needs for designated departments at Luther Seminary and Augsburg University. The LFC cultivates effective and innovative use of IT resources through positive professional working relationships, awareness and expertise in discipline-related IT resources, and through consultative just-in-time support. The LFC manages and shapes the support needs of designated departments, sees resolutions through to completion, and works to systematically improve IT literacy. This position actively advances Luther Seminary’s ABIDE commitments (Accountability, Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity) through day-to-day work, relationships, and decision-making. The incumbent is expected to integrate ABIDE principles into their responsibilities, contributing to a learning and working environment where all can fully belong and thrive;

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop positive, professional working relationships with designated administrative and academic personnel. Time is shared between supporting administrative staff at Augsburg, and with faculty, staff, and students at Luther Seminary, all while maintaining a balance between working with designated staff and investing in the IT office area.
  • Provide consultative just-in-time support to ensure adequate responsiveness levels for the department, regularly monitoring support channels and delegating as needed. As part of the administrative LFC team, provide first level troubleshooting and service of computer and telecom equipment used by designated personnel in a team-based support model.
  • Maintain awareness of, and develop useful expertise with, IT resources relevant to the designated departmental areas. Compile and refine documentation and training materials as part of the User Support team.
  • Identify support trends and consult with other members of the User Support, Administrative Information Systems (AIS), and Systems & Networking (SysNet) teams around issue resolution.
  • Work with designated academic personnel to recommend acquisition of resources as needed. Serve as an advocate for the recommendations.
  • Demonstrate ongoing commitment to Luther Seminary’s ABIDE framework (Accountability, Belonging, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity) by integrating equity-minded practices into core duties, participating in ABIDE-related learning, and contributing to an inclusive and welcoming community.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Supervise student workers deployed in troubleshooting and service tasks.
  • Manage support of designated personnel in consultation with other members of the User Support, EIS, and SysNet teams.
  • Participate in appropriate IT department and working group meetings to stay informed about current IT systems and policies as well as provide feedback and guidance for the design and evolution of IT systems and policies.
  • Support and participate in projects brought forward by the Administrative Information Systems and Systems & Networking teams.
  • Support classroom and meeting space presentation technology and video conferencing solutions.

All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s). Daily work schedule may depend on the needs of supported departments. Periodic evening and weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree and two years of experience, or a combination of education and/or experience equal to four years.
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience in an IT user support field.
  • Advanced support-level skills for Mac and PC hardware and software, including operating systems and standard productivity applications required.
  • Awareness of/experience with business applications relevant to the designated administrative areas and ability to independently investigate, master, and support such applications required.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications equipment and systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in Information Technology.
  • Expertise in multiple information technology areas, such as networking, account management, security, operating systems, enterprise applications, and printing.

Physical Demands
  • Regular computer and phone use. Lifting and carrying of computer equipment periodically, up to 30 lbs.
  • Typical work environment is an office, with visits to faculty and staff offices as needed. Sedentary work for long periods of time. Travel to Augsburg University and other off-site locations may be required.

The pay range for this role is:

60,000 - 64,000 USD per year (Luther Seminary )
