Overview
On-Call Student Ambassador- Student Only Position at Luther Seminary. This is an on-call, work-as-needed position within Enrollment Services. Hours vary (average of 2-5 hours per month). Residential and DL students are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Virtual and/or On-Campus Visit Support: host campus visitors via Zoom or in person; accompany during campus visits (campus tour, chapel, lunch/coffee conversation, class attendance, etc.); introduce visitors to others and provide guidance; follow-up with thank you notes or emails.
- Admissions Events Support: participate in/on-campus and virtual Admissions events (Discernment Weekend, Youth Night, Camp Days, Virtual Open Houses, Call Campaigns); support other events as communicated by Senior Admissions Ambassadors and Admissions Staff.
- General Recruitment Support: opportunities to table at and participate in off-campus events; communications with prospective students and influencers (alumni, mentors, donors, etc.).
- Special Projects for the Admissions Office: digital and print content creation, video projects, etc.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
- Attends Fall (and Spring) campus trainings and other relevant meetings as needed (pre-event preparation).
- Supports a campus culture where diversity is valued and inclusion is encouraged; promotes respect, responsibility, and leadership among students.
- Represents Luther Seminary positively toward prospective, former, and current students, ministry partners and communities served.
- Executes administrative tasks including reimbursement forms and receipt retention as applicable.
- Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current Luther Seminary student.
- Understanding, appreciation and commitment to Luther Seminary’s Mission, Vision and Welcome Statement.
- Experience in admissions/student services in higher education or related hospitality/ministry/nonprofit work (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build relationships and engage a diverse range of prospective students.
- Ability to articulate personal faith and vocation and to engage prospects with varying theological perspectives.
- Commitment to intercultural competency and welcoming students from diverse backgrounds and identities.
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
- Knowledge of Microsoft and Google environments (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to accept coaching, show initiative, and follow clear direction; ability to work a varied schedule with flexible hours.
