Job summary

Side by Side is seeking a Youth Advocate to support LGBTQ youth in foster care or at risk of entering foster care. You will provide field-based and office-based services, build rapport, and coordinate with Social Services and community partners to ensure access to resources.

You will manage a caseload of 8-15 youth, facilitate groups, document interactions, and help connect clients with permanency, education, and community resources.

Qualifications

• Experience working with LGBTQ youth, preferably runaway/homeless youth and current or former foster youth.
• Experience with, and commitment to using, a positive youth development model.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Assess placement and support needs of LGBTQ youth referred to the YAC or residing at the Assessment Center.
• Staff the Alameda County Receiving Center in Castro Valley weekly.
• Provide placement stabilization services to referred youth.
• Coordinate with Family Advocate for placement stabilization services.
• Maintain documentation of meetings in the EHR and use CANS outcome measures.
