Job summary

The San Diego LGBT Community Center is seeking a Community Organizing and Power Building Specialist to advance LGBTQ+ civic engagement and advocacy initiatives in San Diego. You will coordinate a community research advisory council, lead on-the-ground organizing, and collaborate with internal teams to implement power-building campaigns.

Responsibilities include building partnerships, coordinating events, and representing The Center at coalition tables and community forums to drive equitable

Qualifications

• At least three years of experience in community organizing, civic engagement, advocacy, or campaign work.
• Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers or community members.
• Experience facilitating meetings and groups with people of different backgrounds and lived experiences.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work with data.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and coordinate the Community Research Advisory Council up to 20 partners.
• Coordinate meetings, participation tracking, and stipend processing.
• Support focus groups, barrier survey administration, and interpretation of needs findings with SDSU team.
• Co-develop and refine the civic engagement model and narrative reframing toolkit.
• Document CQI cycles and maintain project activity records.
• Represent The Center at external events and build coalitions.
