Job summary

Leprino Foods in California's Lemoore plant seeks a Group Leader for the Whey Maintenance Department to oversee a crew performing troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on plant equipment. You will support the Maintenance Supervisor with weekly plan execution and ensure 80% planned work completion.

Role requires welding and fabrication skills, blueprint/PID literacy, and strong leadership. Maintain a safe work environment while coordinating with production for downtime and backlogs.

  • Oversee safe operation with proper permits; maintain safety standards.
  • Plan pre-work with production during daily area walks.
  • Coordinate with production for downtime support and backlogs.
  • Attend production meetings and follow-ups; communicate major changes.

Whey MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT
General Summary

Group Leader is responsible for overseeing and directing the crew performing troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on plant equipment. Support Maintenance Supervisor with a Weekly Plan execution.

JOB DESCRIPTION
  1. Responsible for providing direction to the crew and equipment in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  2. Ensure weekly plan execution to facilitate minimum requirement of 80% planned work completion.
  3. Perform daily pass downs with clarity and accuracy (Assist Maintenance Supervisor).
  4. Ensure all Red Tags, Hot Work permits, and documentations filled in accordance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  5. Perform daily area walk through of department to pre-plan work with production team (Pre-plan).
  6. Oversee availability of maintenance support throughout the day for production department needs.
  7. Assist Maintenance Supervisor with managing the work backlog.
  8. Attend production meetings and follow ups.
  9. Responsible for tracking of repairable(s) and the disposition process.
  10. At all times, operate in a manner consistent with safe operating procedures.
  11. Responsible for fabrication or modification of equipment to Leprino specs and standards.
  12. Responsible for the installation of new or used equipment.
  13. Responsible for repairs of building and all plant equipment.
  14. Respond promptly to any equipment breakdowns or downtime when applicable.
  15. Assist in shift coverage when applicable.
  16. Responsible for welding repairs to plant equipment.
  17. Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment.
  18. Responsible to fulfill MEP requirements.
  19. Perform any other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
  20. Responsible for communicating major changes on issues and jobs.
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Must demonstrate knowledge of previous leadership experience.
  2. Welding skills including: arc, tig, mig, and oxy/ace.
  3. Ability to weld blk, ss, alum, and brazing.
  4. Ability to design, layout and fabricate.
  5. Ability to read blueprints and P&ID drawing.
  6. Ability to work well with outside contractors.
  7. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  8. Working knowledge of all dairy equipment.
  9. Ability to operate a forklift.
  10. Knowledge of proper safe use of hand tools.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  1. Demonstrated leadership ability. Lead by Example.
  2. Demonstrated strong commitment to safety. Knowledge of GMPs.
  3. Must be able to fulfill physical functional requirements of position per ADA.
  4. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Computer literacy.
