Job summary

Kentech Power, Inc. is seeking a Level 3-4 Generator Technician for our Porter, TX site. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial generators, and perform preventative maintenance and testing in a field environment.

Responsibilities include interpreting manuals, collaborating with teammates, and supporting installations while communicating status and safety considerations to customers and internal teams. A strong safety mindset and valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain generator engines, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills including reading schematics, testing circuits, and panel work.
• Experience with preventative maintenance, inspections, and load testing on generators/power systems.
• Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company procedures in field/shop settings.
• Proficient use of diagnostic, hand, and power tools for generator service work.
• Excellent documentation and collaboration skills for customers and internal teams.
• Relevant training or certifications in generator maintenance, diesel engines, or electrical systems; trade/military experience is a plus.
• Ability to work on-site in varying weather, lift/move equipment, and travel locally for service calls.
• Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record.
• Experience in commercial/industrial generator service, particularly Level 3-4 or senior technician roles.
• Accurate repair documentation, parts usage, and labor hours in the maintenance system.

Role Description The Level 3-4 Generator Technician role is a full-time, on-site position located in Porter, TX. This role involves performing advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on commercial and industrial generators and related power systems.

Daily tasks include troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, conducting preventative maintenance, testing and commissioning units, and documenting all work performed according to company and industry standards. The technician will interpret technical manuals and schematics, collaborate with other team members and supervisors to resolve complex issues, and support turnkey installations and upgrades as needed. The role also requires clear communication with internal teams and customers regarding work status, safety considerations, and recommended service actions.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain generator engines, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, including reading schematics, testing circuits, and working with control panels.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and load testing on generators and power systems.

• Experience in commercial or industrial generator service, especially in a Level 3-4 or senior technician capacity
• Ability to accurately document repair work, parts usage, and labor hours in the company's maintenance system.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience with Residential and Commercial Generators
• Must pass a background and drug test
• Must have clean driving record
• Ability to adhere to a strict start time of 7 AM
• Physically able to lift up to 45+ lbs on a regular basis
