Nucor Steel West Virginia LLC in Apple Grove, WV is seeking a Level 1 Process Automation Engineer to support safe and efficient plant operation. The engineer will lead safety, reliability, and process-improvement efforts within the automation team.

The role focuses on Level 1/2 control systems, PLCs, HMIs, and related software and hardware, with on-site work Monday–Friday and potential overtime. Collaboration with operations, maintenance and engineering is essential.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in engineering/CS/math/physics/chemistry or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Four (4) years of experience in industrial process control/automation within the manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant as part of the process automation team.
• Lead by example with respect to safety, reliability, quality, costs, process improvement, and project management.
• Focus on optimizing level 1 and level 2 control systems for the assigned area.
• Collaborate across operations, maintenance, quality, engineering and project teams.
• Maintain understanding of ISA-95/Purdue hierarchy and related automation architecture; on-site schedule may include overtime.
